<DIV>According to Oregon Geographic Names by Lewis A. McArthur: Wilhoit,
Clackamas County. John Wilhoit took up a land claim at the present location of
Wilhoit post office about 1866. There were attractive <U>mineral springs</U> in
the vicinity and Wilhoit took up the property on that account and operated a
health and pleasure resort. The post office was established in 1882 and closed
on September 29, 1928.</DIV>
