<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>1832 is a bit early for anyone to die in Umatilla County Oregon, unless they were an Indian. There were not alot of white men in that area and Umatilla definitely wasn't formed that early. Oregon wasn't even a state yet. The earliest wagon trains with "families" came about 1842. There were some other folks that came earlier but not with a "wagon train" group per se (more the explorers and fur traders than family groups). (A fantastic site on Oregon migrators is <A href="http://www.oregonpioneers.com/ortrail.htm">http://www.oregonpioneers.com/ortrail.htm</A> ) There are some early territorial census records for Oregon</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>1850 is the first federal (rather it is called Territorial) census (summary at <A href="http://gesswhoto.com/census.html">http://gesswhoto.com/census.html</A> ) but there is also a 1845 & 1849 partial state census (see <A href="http://www.accessgenealogy.com/census/oregon.htm">http://www.accessgenealogy.com/census/oregon.htm</A> )</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>1861 is a more typical migration time - although there are alot of people who migrated earlier - 1852 is the largest year of immigration to Oregon.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV>My ggggf was George Washington Goodman Sr. He was born 17 Apr 1779 in VA and died 28 sept 1853 in Coles Co. IL. His son George Washington Goodman Jr. was born in 1832 in IL and died in Umatilla OR </DIV>
<DIV>I have reason to believe that George Sr. was in Oregon in the late 1700s to early 1800s, but can't document it. However if George W Jr. died in Umatilla in 1832 I'm pretty sure that his father had been in the vacinity.</DIV>
<DIV>I have access to Heritage Quest and have checked the US Census Records there but can find nothing on George W Goodman Sr in Oregon.</DIV>
