Are you sure about this? Several years ago when I spoke with vital records they said the information could be had 5 years after the person's death. Did that change?

<div>In Oregon birth certificates are not available to the general
public through the State Archives for 100 years. The nice thing about
delayed birth certificates is that they are available 100 years after
the person's birth not 100 years after they were filed. Sometimes
delayed birth certificates were filed as part of the process of proving
a person's age in applying for Social Security. Check not only for the
certificate but also for the "evidence" that was filed. It may have
been a sibling or other relative attesting to the person's age.</div>

is filed, and would be done in whatever state the person was living in
at the time and it could be many years after the person's birth, My
father was born in 1883 but a birth certificate was not filed until 20
years later.</div>
