<DIV>Mike Hanley IV (Jordan Valley) is the son of Michael Hanley III. Bill Hanley "Sage of Harney County" was an uncle of Michael III if I have my generations right. The original Michael Hanley settled in Jackson County at Jacksonville (Central Point) and married Martha Burnett. Their home is now part of the Southern Oregon Historical Society. My great grandfather Josiah Burnett was brother to Martha. Mike IV has written at last 3 books of the history of the Owyhee area. Two of them are Owhyee Trails with Ellis Lucia and Tales of the I.O.N. Country. The other one has Sagebrush in its title but can't locate it right off.</DIV>

<DIV>Mike Hanley is very knowledgeable for the forgotten corner of Oregon, Idaho and Nevada.</DIV>

<DIV>Is this Mike Hanley somehow related to the pioneer cattleman Mike Hanley from the Burns area and the Hanley Ranch in Jackson Co., OR? </DIV>

<DIV>Perhaps you might check with Mike Hanley of Jordan Valley. He is very interested in the history of the ION area and Silver City. He also has written a couple ob books about that area. Perhaps he would have some leads.</DIV>
