What I'd like to find is a small, light-weight flatbed scanner ... </>
Is there such a thing?

haven't sen it yet, either. first, the things are generally built with
a 9 x 11 flat bed or bigger, meaning the device will be larger than
that -- they are all rather light weight, except for the piece of glass.

before the flatbed scanners took over, there used to be smaller, hand
held scanners available (Logitec comes to mind) and when used properly
they were rather useful, and certainly more portable than a flatbed.
scanner / printer combos do not seem to be tidy little devices either,
but they are improving.

Certainly open to options others have found to work,
