I'm sorry, I think I goofed. 1851 seems not to be the year I
needed information on RE: The Oregon Trail. Sorry to interfere with this
thread.

I was looking for information on Lucinda Moore Lewis who was
born about 1813 in Tennessee. She was the youngest sister of Alfred and Squire
Moore, who were children of David Moore and Margaret Sherman of TN (David was
a son of Anthony Moore and Zilphia Haines of Frederick, Virginia).

Lucinda Moore Lewis married Fielding Lewis Jr. about 1829; then they
moved to Wabash, IL. They moved to Linn County, Missouri in the 1840s,
according to my relative who gave me this information.

They joined a
wagon train to Oregon in about 1852. Sadly, Lucinda died Aug. 28, 1852 near
Birch Creek, Oregon, on the Snake River. Three of her seven children died on
the way to Oregon as well: Charles Wesley Lewis b. abt. 1840 IL, died Sept. 6,
1852 near Burnt River, OR; Mary Ellen Lewis b. abt. 1838 IL, died Oct. 12,
1852 in Vancouver Barracks, WA; John Marion Lewis b. abt. 1849 MO, died Sept.
18, 1853 in Upper Cascades, OR.

Fielding and the other children, whose
names I do not have, settled in Josephine County, OR as far as I
know.

Paulette
