You could probably have your bookstore in your area order it.

As I said it will not be released until April 8th. and the title is.

"Oregon at Work 1859-2009", I am not sure who will be shown as the Authors, it is complied by Worksource Oregon which is the State Employment Department.

Those of us who contributed to the book are invited to the release party at the Oregon State Capitol in Salem Oregon, there were many contributors from all over the State of Oregon, so there should be some great old photos in the book.

The History of the Northwest as it is related to my family is one of my passions, one thing I have been trying to find is my Father's Step-Sister gave an interview on the Old Kvan Vancouver, Wa. radio stn. in the 1940's before she passed away on coming across the Oregon trail as a Child, one of the family used to have transcripts of that interview, unfortuneatly the one that had them passed away years ago and they may have been thown out.

I always urge anyone who has family data, photo albums Etc. that they do not want give them to a Genealogy or Historical Society, where they can be preserved, someone someday may want to see that information, a lot of history has been lost by just being thrown out my family members that did not want it.

I also love the history of the Oregon Trail and this
website 'or-roots' as all of you talk about old and new information about
the trail and our pioneer families. My grandmother showed us as kids old wagon
wheel ruts along the highway by Columbia River, Biggs Junction, Deschutes
River and Dalles, OR. I remember seeing the ruts closer to the
Dalles and they were on the side of a hill kind of. I can still visualize
it in my head like a picture. When I was a kid my mom actually drove her car on
the Barlow road at least that's what I remember it being and it was so
bumpy but fun. In my research now I see I am related to Samuel K Barlow though
his 2 son's who married Larkin sisters and then back from them the Plank
& Lydalls. My mother's side of family came on
the trail from Franklin Co., Missouri & Keokuck, Iowa in 1852 to Marion Co.
were McCubbins, Stevens.
Hi Nancy, No I haven't to date even though Lydall does
bear some phonetic resemblance to Lightle. Are your Lydalls of
German/Bavarian/Swiss extraction having immigrated in the late 17's, very
earliest 18's? My name underwent some changes at entry into the US and not
uniformly across all family members (nothing as challenging as a puzzle with
lots of pieces missing in the box). That spelling does pop up with mine on
Soundex searches, I'll keep my eyes open.

Some of my easily traced Oregon ancestors included
Montgomery/Holloway by blood and Johnson/Stone by marriage (and plenty more to
be found). I've even tripped over some Hansens that come off my Father's
Mother's side. Ingrid
