It's true, Layne. As far as I can tell the state archives has all of the old probate cases from Umatilla County. There is very little really old circuit court records of any type left at Pendleton.
The date on the file is 1899. It might be worth a try to see if this is your guy. Most of the Umatilla probate records have been sent here to Salem, which is not to say you wouldn't find anything at the courthouse, but given the distance you will be traveling thought it would be helpful info for you, if in fact this is the right person.
>
> You could send an email request to the Reference staff at:
>
> archives.reference@state.or.us
>
> and ask them to check it for you. If you gave the names of some of the children that were likely to be listed as heirs that would help them determine if this is the correct Richardson.
>
> Good luck in your research.
>
> Layne Sawyer
> "list mom"
> Oregon State Archives
>
> _______________________________________________
> or-roots mailing list
> or-roots@listsmart.osl.state.or.us
> http://listsmart.osl.state.or.us/mailman/listinfo/or-roots
