you do't know the time frame that would be problematic. I never have much
luck with my newspaper research, I never find things I have specific dates for,
and if I have a whole year to look through it seems like it takes me that long

original material ranging from tax rolls to coroners' inquests. Also in
Heppner the historical ociety museum has old newspapers and collections of
photographs that are very worthwhile resources. Old Circuit Court
records have been moved to Salem mosty, with a few stored at the Umatilla
