the usual caveat – work backwards! First you have to find father, mother,
father, mother. . . all the way back to the Rev. War.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

with those people, see who may have served.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

as Dale noted, “serving” didn’t just mean fighting. I have
ancestors who were suppliers of goods or provided other services also. Those
you won’t find at Footnote, but there are books around with various names

(and women) from being recognized as Patriots by the DAR and SAR. I have
a Quaker Patriot from North Carolina who supplied flour to the Continental Army
and is therefore deemed a Patriot by the DAR.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
