New Family Search is a pilot version of the LDS Family
Search. It's still in beta and not been released yet. Last winter I was
able to participate in testing and record indexing and will do so again this
winter as time allows. Some of the program enhancements have passed into
the regular program but I've been out of the loop and don't know much
else. Testing (and I guess access) is only going on in a few parts of the
country last I heard. This summer I went on a tour of the climate control
section of our state archives and got to see the process involved in getting
paper records digitized. It was fascinating but I don't think I could
handle windowless rooms to do it.
