The OGS is always interested in other Oregon Pioneers and Early Settlers. Their website gives you contact information on this. Also, the last time I looked, their online list is very out-dated. They have more that is on the list.

Do you know if the Oregon Genealogical Society might have information on the Brownsville Cemetery? My husband's great grandparents are buried there according to their death certificates and my mother-in-law remembers going there. I've not been able to find any information about their plot. If I knew where they were buried I'd see about placing a marker on them.

Can anyone tell me if the Oregon Genealogical Society is interested in having information on Oregon Pioneers who are not on their list? I note that they say the material comes from applications for Early Pioneer Certificates, is that the only way they are listed?

My husband's great grandfather, Stephen Elbridge Steward, is listed. His wife, Mary Fidelia Hamlin, and her family were here in 1866 when she and Stephen Steward were married in Coos County. Her father was John Lewis Hamlin and he was living in Myrtle Creek, Douglas County in 1866. Her mother, Mary Jane (Bunn) Hamlin Moulton was living in Coquille, Coos County. Her stepfather, John Moulton, came to Oregon in 1864 according to "The Pioneer History of Coos and Curry Counties".

The Oregon Genealogical Society in Eugene has pretty good information on the Pioneer Cemetery (I.O.O.F.). I was able to confirm where my great-grandmother's sister was buried. She appeared on only one index as there is no marker for her, but the OGS had the plot records that showed where she was buried.

By the way, if you see a reference in Eugene to I.O.O.F. #2, that is West Lawn Memorial Park on Danebo Rd. just off W. 11th.

Laurel Hill Cemetery is officially Laurel Grove Cemetery. The cemetery association discovered that it had originally been platted as Laurel Grove or that there was already a Laurel Hill (can't remember which now - another one of those senior moments). The sign at the cemetery now says Laurel Grove. However, the cemetery is on Laurel Hill Road.
