Could you explain "Jump off Joe" in terms of what sort of division it
was -- city, town, township, area, and roughly where it was, please?
In terms of where in Josephine County?

"Jump Off Joe" has numerous meanings in the State of Oregon, from an
old rock formation on the beach to a mountain to a creek in Josephine
county where Dr Mcloughlin's son, Joeseph, fell and was fatally
injured. I am not familiar with it as an address.

I ask, because I think I am looking for a Hiram Simpkins reported in
the same area, possibly with a wife named Catherine. Another Hiram
Simpkins can be found with wife named Mary, and family, in the 1860,
1870, & 1880 census in the Yamhill and Polk Counties area, and I do
not believe this is the fellow I am looking for. The larger Simpkins
family has a plethora of Horatios and Hirams in it.

Thank you,
