Unfortunately I can't be sure of anything on these photos beyond it is a fairly safe bet they are all taken west of the Rockies. The above link is to the album that is as near as I can reconstruct almost entirely the family of Nicholas Tack Melvin and his wife Zenobia Lyster. You can see from my captions my speculations on who these folks are. I really don't expect much chance of anyone knowing these people, but am hoping someone on this or some list will recognize some of the
places. </span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="arial" size="3"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;"><br></span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="arial" size="3"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;">These people moved around quite a bit. The whole family is in the state of Washington in their 1892 census and I note the page I have saved thereof doesn't list any place info. Nice. in 1900 they are in the Beaver Creek precinct of Clackamas Co. By 1910 they are in West Oregon City precinct which for all I know is the same place, Meanwhile Sophia and the youngest child have both died. By 1920 Uncle Nick is by himself in lodgings in Oregon city, John L and wife are nearby well, in the same precinct. The capper is the household above Uncle Nick in 1920 is the only Ekerson family I find in the 1920 Census in Oregon. I don't see an Art among them though and they
are illusive in the 1910 Census. </span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="arial" size="3"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;"><br></span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="arial" size="3"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;">I have John L and wife in the Gardiner Census in 1930, but have nothing else on them in that census. I do have dates of death for most of the above mentioned people many of them thanks to folks on OR-Roots.. What I don't know is who the extra grandchildren (?) are, the last name of Clare E. wife of John L. and any Information on Mary Francis Cassidy wife of Oscar Orvil.</span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="arial" size="3"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;"><br></span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="arial" size="3"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;">The
other album at the same site labeled "From Joan" at the above link which should be available to the public is a mixed bag, but I am thinking some of the folks in it are the Milan Morrell Melvin Junior family, most notably I am hoping someone can identify image 55 either as him and his family or who they are. From the way I received this album I really can't even say with any certainty that all the photos are from west of the Rockies.</span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="arial" size="3"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;"><br></span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="arial" size="3"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;">On that note I haven't researched the photos that have names per what is posted. I do have the life history of Emma Sherrett which I have actually shared on Or-roots in the past and I have pretty much everything on Anna Melvin and her son Milan, It
would be interesting to me to find out more about cousin Virgil but I do have the bare facts of her life too.</span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="arial" size="3"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;"><br></span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="arial" size="3"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;">I apologize for such a long post, but then you know to expect that when you see it is from me.</span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="arial" size="3"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;"><br></span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="arial" size="3"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;">Leslie Chapman</span></font></div></td></tr></table><br>
