as well as great success searching historical newspapers for items about
Junction City, Oregon. Yesterday I came upon one that is particularly important
to our history but it is only the first part of the article -- and nowhere could
I find to get the remainder. (Apparently when the newspaper was digitized, they
didn't do the jump.) Here is what I have from the "Morning Olympian" from 21
September 1895:</DIV>

<DIV>Eugene, Or., Sept. 21. -- M. B. Pitney of Junction City, was</DIV>
<DIV>instantly killed today by the accidental discharge of a shotgun.</DIV>
<DIV>He took hold of the muzzle to draw it out of a wagon. The trigger</DIV>
