<P><FONT color=#000000><FONT size=2><FONT face=arial,sans-serif>Perhaps the Matneys and Matheneys were the same lines at some earlier date. Such as is probablw e with Tatham, Tatum, Tatom, and Tatem. And I have always wondered but not found any proofs that Ballards and Bullards are from the same original name. My Bullard ancestors are also interesting but not a main research for me, only as far as they connect to the Capps, Moore, McClintock and Sumner lines I am closer to.</P></FONT></FONT></FONT>

<DIV><FONT size=3>Matney is a shortened version of Mattingly of Mattingly England, same people are Matani ( Italy) DeMatenyee ( France).</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=3> Matheny are only ( small possibility ) related by marriage into the Cooper lines , As there are 2 main known lines, one is on the Matney, the other is of Walt Davis who is on the Matheny line, its possible those 2 Coopers < could be> siblings, remotely, but possible.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=3> It seems on a map and in wagon travels and on census, Matney and Matneny seemed to keep close company, how ever we dont know why.</FONT></DIV>

I thought they were Matneys or Mathenys who married Coopers. I read a book, suggested by someone on this list, by a lady who was an old pioneer in this family. I was interested because there was a McClintock who married a Cooper mentioned in this book, but after searching, it seems not to have been a person related to my McClintocks from Linn Co., Missouri.<BR></FONT></FONT></FONT>
