If Andrew filed for the divorce, that may indicate she was still
committed to the asylum.<br>
<br>
Have you checked to see if she possibly died at the asylum? They
had a lot of unclaimed cremains at the new hospital in Salem.<br>

<div>The 1890 Veteran's schedule shows Andrew and Emma
Langworthy living at Long Tom, Lane County.</div>
<div>The Oregon State Archives for September 24, 1891 shows Emma
being committed to the Hawthorne Asylum.</div>
<div>The Eugene City Guard dated September 26, 1891 states that
the cause of Emma's insanity is domestic troubles. It also
says Andrew and the children were living on Lake creek.</div>
<div>The Eugene City Guard dated March 10, 1893 shows Andrew and
Emma's divorce being granted.<br>
</div>
<div>The "Langworthy Family: some descendants of Andrew and
Rachel (Hubbard) Langworthy" by W. F. Langworthy (1940) shows
Emma dying March 9, 1893.</div>
<div>By 1900, Andrew had moved the children back to Michigan to
the family farm.</div>

</div>
<div>I know enough about the errors in the Langworthy book to
figure out that someone probably gave the date of Emma's exit
from the family and it was construed as death. My problem is
that I haven't been able to find Emma's death or her grave. I
just can't believe that her divorce was granted and she died
right away. I have sent for divorce papers, have searched
through all the cemeteries in the area, even contacted funeral
homes trying to figure out what happened to Emma. Emma was
born in 1854 so she could have lived many more years and could
have been released and remarried. I am simply at a loss as to
where to search next. I would appreciate any help.</div>
