Often, in the census, women preferred to list themselves as widow when it was really a divorce. One of my relatives did, and the story was, her husband came home with fancy underwear for the maid who was there while the wife was recuperating from childbirth. Family rumor is, he married the maid after the divorce. One of my own grt grandmothers, at the age of 29 had her first child out of wedlock and was listed in the census as Mrs. Spencer when that was her maiden name. : )
Martha Ann JANUARY (b. 13 May 1866 in Cottage Grove, Lane Co., Oregon)
m. William Thomas SIMMONS (b. 12 Mar 1853 Lane Co., Oregon)

They had two children:
Samuel Bert SIMMONS (b. 1 Dec 1887; d. 5 Feb 1975)
Lola Ethel SIMMONS (b. May 1889; d. 8 May 1971)

William Thomas SIMMONS d. 25 Mar 1927 at Junction City, Lane Co., Oregon

On 13 Dec 1931, Martha Ann JANUARY SIMMONS
m. William Boyd Moore (in a couple of places, Rev. William Boyd Moore)

I have found nothing else about Mr. Moore.

Coincidentally, Lola Ethel SIMMONS first married Olaf Olsen who died in an automobile accident in 1918.
An article in the "Junction City Times" says that the funeral services were held at Riverview Church "by Rev. Moore, pastor of the M. E. church here".

Martha Ann Simmons Moore's death certificate, 20 Jul 1961, says she was a widow. Therefore, Mr. Moore must have died before that date. Her obituary in the "Junction City Times" identifies her as Mrs. Anna Simmons Moore, talks about her growing up in Cottage Grove, marrying William Simmons, living in the Riverview neighborhood since 1892. It mentions her two children, but other than the name, Mrs. Moore, says nothing about William B. Moore.
