My family lived in Portland between 1940 and 1954. I was born in Portland in 1945 at the Emanuel Hospital while we lived at Gales Lake. When it was decided to close Gals Lake and turn it into a rail yard. We moved to Bonnie Slope about 1953 when it was a small community and I went to school there in the second grade. I have a picture of the class but don’t remember anyone. I went to Portland last August and went to Bonnie Slope to if I recognized where I lived but after 50 years it had changed so much I could not find where our house was or any land mark I recognized.
