[OR_Archaeology] WSDOT cultural resources specialist position openin Seattle

Hey folks, just to make this clear-- the application period is only two
weeks, but that's because we are anxious to fill the position quickly
and not because someone has an "inside track" and we're just going
through the motions (which is what I always assume when I see two-week
application periods). So if you're interested, please reply!
Scott S. Williams
Cultural Resources Program Manager, WSDOT

Position Profile: The Alaskan Way Viaduct (AWV) and SR 520 Program's
primary focus is to develop, design and deliver multi-billion dollar
transportation programs for the Seattle-metropolitan/Central Puget Sound
area. Our approach to improving transportation is three-fold:
strategically adding highway capacity, making our existing roads more
efficient and finding new ways to manage the demands placed on them. We
are a team of dedicated and energetic professionals here to serve the
citizens of Washington State, helping to ensure that travel to the city,
mountains, or water is safe for all who live in or visit Washington.
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is looking for
a committed individual to lead technical and regulatory archaeological
specialists on cultural resource issues for the Alaskan Way Viaduct and
Seawall Replacement <http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/viaduct/> Program,
the SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Program
<http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/sr520bridge/> , and other smaller
projects within the greater Puget Sound area as needed. This position is
responsible for working with the project teams to comply with Section
106 of the National Historic Preservation Act for WSDOT on behalf of the
Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The incumbent will manage and
direct scopes of work, budgets, and cultural resources tasks. This
position will review archaeological assessments and technical reports
for WSDOT.
Please note: This is a full-time, project position expected to last
until June 30, 2012.
