<DIV>As an Archaeology Specialist this position will be the staff expert in archaeology, traditional cultural properties and general cultural resources. This position will analyze and document impacts of projects and other Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) activities on archaeological sites, traditional cultural properties and structures. Also will coordinate avoidance, minimization or mitigation of project impacts with the project team, SHPO and other non-ODOT stakeholders.</DIV>

<DIV>Perform research to assess the effects of transportation projects on archaeological resources, traditional cultural properties and general cultural resources in accordance with historic preservation laws and regulations.</DIV>

<DIV>Research includes conducting archaeological and other reconnaissance surveys, document searches and contact with Native American representatives, planners, historians and preservationists to aid in determining significant properties. These findings, plus the assessment of project effects and mitigation, are included in technical reports and related Determinations of Eligibility and Section 106 reports. </DIV>

<DIV>Establish and maintain liaison for the section with other ODOT personnel and various state and federal agencies whose expertise or jurisdiction is related to cultural resource management, such as the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) and Native American tribal organizations.</DIV>

<DIV>Conduct fieldwork to help in the assessment of archaeological needs for a project. </DIV>

<DIV>Three additional years of environmental analysis or resource project management experience directly related to Archaeology may substitute for the Bachelor's degree. </DIV>
