<P class=MsoNormal>Dr. Dennis Jenkins will be the featured lecturer at the April 2, 2013 Oregon Archaeological Society meeting. He will be discussing “Archaeology and Science at the Paisley Caves,<SPAN style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: white; FONT-SIZE: 13.5pt">" </SPAN><SPAN style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: white">summarizing his analysis of</SPAN> his three years of re-excavations at Paisley 5 Mile Point Caves site in South-Central Oregon. The cave has been found to hold Pleistocene (Ice Age) cultural deposits ranging from ca. 12,000 to 14,340 calculated BP. Discovery of ancient human DNA, protein residues, and human hair demonstrated human occupation during that time. </P>
<P class=MsoNormal><?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O /><O:P> </O:P></P>
<P class=MsoNormal>Jenkins is a Senior Research Archaeologist for the Museum of Natural and Cultural History at the University of Oregon in addition to directing the U of O Northern Great Basin archaeological field school in central Oregon. Much of his research has focused on the first colonization of the Americas and settlement-subsistence patterns of the Northern Great Basin. Besides numerous publications, he has appeared in documentaries for the History Channel, National Geographic, Oregon Public Broadcasting, and Canadian Broadcasting.</P>
