<P class=MsoNormal>“<I>Fremont Rock Art on the Southwestern Wyoming Frontier</I>” is the title of the February 4, 2014 lecture sponsored by the Oregon Archaeological Society (OAS). The featured speaker is Dr. Jim Keyser. <BR></P>

<P class=MsoNormal><BR></P>

<P class=MsoNormal>Fremont rock art, best known from the large, elaborate figures of the Classic Vernal Style, is widely known to all rock art aficionados. Although Fremont occupation and rock art has long been rumored to exist in southwestern Wyoming , the only images so far published have not been particularly convincing. Recent OAS rock art research in the area has resulted in the identification and recording of sites that demonstrate, beyond a doubt, that there was a strong Fremont presence in southwestern Wyoming. <BR></P>

<P class=MsoNormal><BR></P>

<P class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="COLOR: black">Keyser has conducted rock art research across western North America.<SPAN> </SPAN>He also has an ongoing research interest in European rock art in France, Spain, and Italy.<SPAN> </SPAN>He is a member of the Science Advisory Committee for the Study of Chauvet Cave (France), and is listed in Who's Who in Rock Art. Prior to retirement, he served for 27 years as a regional archeologist for the U.S. Forest Service. He maintains faculty affiliation with the University of Montana and has more than 150 archaeology publications of which more than 100 concern rock art, robe art, or ledger art.<SPAN> </SPAN></SPAN></P><PRE><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Calibri','sans-serif'; FONT-SIZE: 12pt">The presentation is at Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) at 7:45 PM, and is free and open to the public. The talk is preceded by a general business meeting beginning at 7 PM, that is also open to the public </SPAN></PRE>
