<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">I am sorry to announce that Beth Walton was in the hospital for most of February and her spirit was finally freed at home on Saturday, 2/22. She had multiple myeloma cancer for
two years. It eventually went wild and caused damage to several of her organs. She declined rapidly.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><span style="font-size:14.0pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">There will be a Memorial Celebration of Life on March 29, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Frog Pond Church (a.k.a. Meridian United Church of Christ), 6750 SW Boeckman Rd., Wilsonville,
OR) followed by a catered social gathering. I plan to wear jeans and a good shirt. I suggest attendees be neat, comfortable and (business) casual.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif";color:black">Beth Ellen Walton of Newberg, OR was born in Oakland, CA to Albert S. and Margaret (Doyle) Walton on December 12,1941.</span><span style="font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif";color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif";color:black"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif";color:black">She grew up in Berkeley, CA attending School of the Madeline Grammar School and St. Joseph High School. Her B.A. and M.A. degrees in Anthropology are from University of Arizona.
Beth's archaeological career included work on the Murray Springs Clovis Site, AZ and the HI State Historic Preservation Office, surveying the Hawaiian Islands for sites. Most of her career was with the Bureau of Land Management: Craig, CO; Alaska State Office;
and Vale, OR concluding with the U.S. Forest Service, Mt. Hood National Forest, OR. She was active in the Ladd Hill Neighborhood Association, the Oregon Zoo, Project Vote Smart, the Newberg Library Foundation, Yamhill County Community Emergency Response Team,
and Oregon Archaeological Society.</span><span style="font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif";color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif";color:black"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif";color:black">Beth was an avid reader, and a sponge for learning, always sharing her varied, broad knowledge and experiences and encouraging young and old in self esteem and to attain their
potential. She was passionate about democracy, civil liberties, community service, and women's equality. She was proud of her archaeological endeavors and knowledge.</span><span style="font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif";color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif";color:black">Her spirit was freed at her home, Sparrowhurst, on February 22, 2014 after two months strongly enduring complications from multiple myeloma cancer.</span><span style="font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif";color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif";color:black">She leaves behind her spouse, Cheryl McCaffrey. Also surviving is her aunt Catherine (Kay) Remotto of Oakland, CA, numerous cousins, her Ladd Hill Neighborhood family, and
many school, work, travel, social, and professional friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, an aunt, and several uncles.</span><span style="font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif";color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
