<b>Portland, OR– University of Oregon Museum collections to be discussed at OMSI</b><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto">“<b>A Library of Objects: A Personal Perspective on Anthropological Collections at the University of Oregon Museum of Natural and Cultural History”</b> is the title of the November
3, 2015 lecture by Dr. Pamela Endzweig, sponsored by the Oregon Archaeological Society. Dr. Endzweig’s talk is free and open to the public.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto"><a name="_GoBack"></a>Museum collections and repositories may conjure up the image of Indiana Jones and the Ark of the Covenant in its final resting place, an inaccessible crate
in a warehouse of other crates. But the satisfaction of working with museum collections comes from making them accessible and helping them tell their stories, about history, human behavior, and environment, and demonstrating their value and relevance in today’s
world. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto"> Endzweig’s presentation will draw on her more than three decades of experience with the anthropological collections of the University of Oregon Museum of Natural and Cultural History
(MNCH) and feature some of her favorite objects and their stories, as well as ongoing projects.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto"> Endzweig is an archaeologist and the MNCH Senior Research Associate and Director of Anthropological Collections; she has been with MNCH since 1982. She has also overseen design
of and relocation into two new curation facilities, and has implemented the museum's NAGPRA compliance since 1990.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto">Founded in 1951, the Oregon Archaeological Society (OAS) is one of the oldest and largest archaeological groups in the country. OAS is a 501c3 non-profit whose primary mission is
to educate the public and promote an interest in archaeology. OAS hosts free public archaeology lectures on the first Tuesday of the month (Jan-May/September-Dec) at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). Talks and membership are open to the public.
