On June 3rd, 2017, Portland State University Department of Anthropology and the Roadshow Planning Committee will present the sixth annual Archaeology Roadshow on PSU Campus. And thanks to a grant from the Oregon Heritage Commission, the
Bureau of Land Management, and community support, we’re also taking the Roadshow “on the road” to eastern Oregon’s Harney County for a heritage and archaeology outreach event in Burns/Hines June 10th!

The Archaeology Roadshow introduces the public to local heritage and the science of archaeology and instills a sense of stewardship for cultural resources. It consists of two main parts. Demonstrations and exhibits showcasing our archaeology
and heritage are created and hosted by organizations (like tribes, historical societies, federal agencies, school groups). And a panel of experts is on hand to analyze and interpret personal treasures visitors bring to the event. (check out this youtube video:

The Archaeology Roadshow strives not only to nurture the public’s natural fascination with archaeology and heritage by showcasing local history and prehistory, but also to forge stronger connections among individuals and organizations in
our state who are passionate about heritage, site stewardship and public education.
