Our apologies if you’ve received a message about this before, but I have a special reason to reach out to you at this time. As an archaeologist, you know that public support is essential for the health of our profession. Here at ALI, we must recruit our minimum
number of ten travelers for our Yucatan tour, December 4-12, and you can help us even if you can’t go on the tour yourself. Just share this information!<br>

Right now we have one confirmed registrant for this tour, but we need ten registrants to make it a go. We also have a number of fence-sitters. The deadline for registration is September 4, so you can see why we are growing concerned.<br>
<br>
Our tour program is a big part of our plan for growth. The cash flow from tours has the potential to help propel us upward and fund other public-outreach developments such as our planned Netflix-like subscription service and expansion of our online content.

The expert-led “Ancient Maya Cities of the Yucatan” tour takes us to eight different ancient Maya cities, which will yield a much firmer understanding of the urban culture of that fascinating civilization than a visit to just one or two cities. It has many
highlights. For example, Dzibilchaltun was inhabited continuously for 3000 years, all the way up to the Spanish arrival. Chichen Itza is spectacular, with its beautiful Temple of Kukulkan and Mesoamerica’s biggest ballcourt, big enough to fit a football field!
Izamal is huge (20 square miles), with five huge pyramids. Labana is full of wonderful art works. Uxmal is considered one of the most important archaeological sites of Maya culture, with many ornate buildings, including the impressive Pyramid of the Magician.
The Gran Museo del Mundo Maya in Merida is a modern museum telling a comprehensive and visually fascinating story about Maya culture.<br>

Each of you has a network potentially including eager travelers with the resources and time and interest to enjoy the Yucatan tour. Please share with them this unique opportunity to directly experience ancient Maya civilization, even if you can’t go yourself.
Together, we can make this tour a success and an avenue for further healthy growth of TAC.<br>
