Oregon Environmental Public Health Tracking<https://public.health.oregon.gov/HealthyEnvironments/TrackingAssessment/EnvironmentalPublicHealthTracking/Pages/index.aspx> is pleased to announce its release of Alcohol, Food, and Tobacco Retailer data on its publicly accessible data portal<http://epht.oregon.gov/Index.aspx>!

The built environment affects daily life in many ways and can encourage or discourage a variety of healthy behaviors. The design and layout of communities - including how dense or scattered they are, the degree and type of transportation infrastructure, and the types of land uses that zoning dictates - can all be drivers of health by shaping our choices and options. Behaviors that may be affected by the built environment include physical activity, diet and substance use. In order to better understand these influences across the state of Oregon, Oregon tracking has made the following Alcohol , Food, and Tobacco measures available:

· the average walk distance to a source of alcohol, food, or tobacco

· the number per square mile

· the number per 1,000 population

· and the percent of households within 1/2 mile.

These measures are available at the Census block group, Census tract, county and state level. The retail food index is also available, at the Census tract, county and state level. To learn more, visit Oregon Tracking's portal (http://epht.oregon.gov)<http://epht.oregon.gov/Index.aspx> and select Environmental Justice > Community Design > Alcohol, Food & Tobacco.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to the Oregon Tracking team<https://public.health.oregon.gov/PHD/Directory/Pages/program.aspx?pid=69> should you have any questions. Oregon tracking is also always interested in hearing how users are making use of the data, so don't be shy and get in touch with us!

Happy Holidays,
