This event brings together academic and transportation professionals to advance the state of the art by accelerating new research into practice and shaping the agenda for future research. Keynote speaker Eric Klinenberg



Eric Klinenberg, author of Heat Wave: A Social Autopsy of Disaster in Chicago, will deliver the keynote address. Klinenberg's thoughtful analyses of large-scale social changes have called national attention to hidden outcomes of the development of modern societies. His other books include Fighting for Air: The Battle to Control America's Media, Going Solo: The Extraordinary Rise and Surprising Appeal of Living Alone, and Modern Romance, an exploration of love in the digital age which he co-wrote with comedian Aziz Ansari.

Klinenberg is a professor of sociology and the director of the Institute for Public Knowledge at New York University. He is currently leading a major research project on climate change and the future of cities.
