Oregon Climate and Health Resilience Plan
OHA launched the new Climate and Health Resilience Plan on February 2, 2017.
Since 2014, when OHA issued its initial report on climate change, the state has experienced its warmest year (2015), lowest snowpack (2015) and worst wildfire season (2015). In 2016 Oregon was declared a national disaster area for severe storms and landslides. Climate change is already threatening Oregon’s air, water and food.
OHA released the Climate and Health Resilience Plan, which warns that Oregon’s public health system is not equipped to respond to environmental health threats spawned by climate change. The report provides recommendations on ways the state can partner with local communities to reduce health hazards caused by climate change, including:

  * Monitoring health effects of climate change
  * Equipping partners to protect patients from environmental health risks and
  * Helping communities make adaptations to mitigate climate-driven threats to health
