Good morning,
I hope this email finds you well on this sunny spring day. A few updates that may be of interest to you -
2021 Recreational Trails Program Grant Cycle:
The 2021 Recreational Trails Program opens for grant applications tomorrow, April 1. Approximately $1.6M in grant funds are available for projects to construct, expand, and improve trails for motorized and non-motorized users. Learn more in the attached press release or on our website<https://www.oregon.gov/oprd/GRA/Pages/GRA-rtp.aspx>. A detailed webinar about the program and application process is scheduled for April 15 from 9:30-11:30 AM. Register here<https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_4vdWjtLzRo6W2VvVGJNo-w> to watch the webinar live. The webinar recording will be posted on our website shortly afterwards. The updated grant manual, a summary of policy changes, and the 2021 application worksheet are also posted on our website.
RTP Full Funding Act Reintroduced (HR 1864):
Bipartisan legislation was recently introduced to fully fund the Recreational Trails Program. The bill would nearly triple the amount of funding allocated to RTP from the federal Highway Trust Fund. Learn more on the American Trails website<https://www.americantrails.org/resources/hr-1864-rtp-full-funding-act-moves-forward>.
American Trails collecting shovel-ready trail project data - responses due April 2:
The Trails Move People Coalition is collecting data on shovel-ready projects to demonstrate the economic impact of including trail funding in upcoming infrastructure and stimulus legislation. Survey responses are due by Friday, April 2. Take the survey here<https://form.jotform.com/203426786964064> or learn more here<https://www.americantrails.org/shovel-ready-trail-projects>. See how Oregon's previous survey data was referenced in an article about the RTP Full Funding Act<https://mountaintimes.info/welch-and-curtis-reintroduce-bipartisan-legislation-to-boost-funding-for-recreational-trails/>. Projects you plan to submit an RTP grant application for would be a good fit for the survey.
2021 Recreation and Trails Summit - session proposals due June 4:
The Oregon Outdoor Recreation Summit Planning Committee is accepting session proposals for the 2021 Oregon Outdoor Recreation Summit. The Committee is accepting proposals for full sessions, proposals for short case studies to be included in roundtable sessions, and proposals for in-field stewardship opportunities. Submit your session proposal and learn about sponsorship opportunities on the Oregon Trails Coalition website<https://www.oregontrailscoalition.org/summit>.
