Randy, I appreciate all the effort and hard work you've put in to the
Orthoimagery FIT and other Framework initiatives over the years. You've
been a good, supportive partner and you're right, we've made great
progress under your leadership. There will be special recognition of
your contributions at the next OGIC meeting. I hope you'll be able to
attend. And of course, I look forward to your continued participation
on the various OGIC groups as DSL's GIS Coordinator.

Subject: [orthoimagery] Orthoimagery update
Folks:
There have been some recent developments with Orthoimagery for 2011.
First I completed and distributed a rough draft Orthoimagery plan that
some of you have provided input and comments on. Secondly USDA FSA NAIP
program will be acquiring imagery this summer and should have a product
out early this fall. For details please contact Oregon's FSA liaison
Kent Willet or Cy Smith at GEO for details.
Lastly I wanted to let everyone know that I am stepping down as the
Chairperson for the Orthoimagery Framework group. I have enjoyed
working with many of you and have learned a great deal.
I have been the Chairman now since 2001 and believe we have accomplished
a lot in those years (standards, MOU, multiple Imagery datasets,
Portals, etc.). The federal partners (BLM, FSA, NRCS, USFS, USFW,
USGS, etc.) have all done a great job with working with FSA's NAIP
program over the last 10 years and without them we wouldn't have any
statewide imagery to speak of.
I have attached the "Draft" Orthoimagery Imagery plan that I provided
earlier in hopes that it will help provide future structure to the
group. Thanks for all the good work and support you have lent over the
years - it really has made a difference to me and to many others.
Should you need anything please feel free to call me.
Sincerely,
Randall Sounhein, GISP
