The first is that of the Aerial Imagery Index Data Standard development process sponsored by the Orthoimagery FIT. Many members have given significant input to this standard. I want to briefly let everyone know of the passing of Michael Golden last Oct 2010 while on a sea kayaking trip down in Mexico. I would like to thank the US Forest Service and Michael for their contributions to the Orthoimagery FIT group over the years.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>A number of folks have asked about acquiring the 2009 imagery in the ˝ meter format. As many of you are aware that the 1 meter data arrived in late 2009 and the ˝ meter imagery arrived to the Dept. of Administration’s (DAS) GEO office in summer 2010. DAS GEO discovered some issues with the datasets and worked with the vendor to resolve the issues and eventually got replacement datasets and so they are now releasing limited copies of the 2009 ˝ meter datasets. However, even though the flights are being captured via 4 band imagery, final processing and output will still be of the 3 band RGB 1 meter spec’d format. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>The logic behind this decision is that this will eliminates the extra steps required to produce any buy up products such as CIR or ˝ meter products that may be requested to the project. So any contracting/buy up to NAIP needs to go through FSA directly.
