Their 14-foot canoe was no match against the strong current and high river flow. Two of the victims were able to self-rescue and swim safely to shore. The third victim was in trouble. The canoe became entrapped in a large log and the victim was clinging to the swamped canoe. Deputy Jon Bock launched his vessel, and with the help from members of the Eugene Fire Department, brought the victim to safety. Fortunately, all three victims were wearing life jackets, which contributed to their survival.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal style='line-height:200%;text-autospace:none'> Deputy Jon Bock is extremely skilled due to his vast experience in countless rescues on the Willamette and McKenzie Rivers.
