</v:shape><![endif]--><![if !vml]><img width=532 height=362 src="cid:image009.jpg@01CC8420.F1D6D530" align=right hspace=12 v:shapes="Picture_x0020_5"><![endif]> <span style='font-size:12.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'>The Oregon State Marine Board recognized the life-saving efforts of Deputy Tom Teaford at their annual post-season Law Enforcement Conference, held on Monday, September 26 in Eugene. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='line-height:200%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'> It was July 31, 2011 on Wickiup Reservoir when a woman collapsed on the dock after suffering an acute asthma attack. Deputy Teaford was the first person on the scene and immediately took charge of the situation and began administering first aid and comforting the victim. The woman could barely breathe to the point she was unsuccessful in using her inhaler. Several times the victim started to pass out due to lack of oxygen. Because of Deputy Teaford’s calming and encouraging influence, he was able to help the woman calm and take shallow breaths. On several occasions, the woman was going to “give in” to her situation and stop breathing. Deputy Teaford continued support and reassurances probably played a pivotal role in her survival until the EMT’s arrived nearly half an hour later.
