<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Representatives from the Oregon State Marine Board will be on hand with Clackamas County Sheriff’s Marine Patrol Deputies at the Portland Expo Center on January 9 to dedicate the new patrol boat to the county.
The keys will be turned over to Clackamas County Sheriff Craig Roberts and Sergeant Steve Thoroughman, the Marine Patrol Program Manager, at 12:30 pm.</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif""><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:200%"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif""> This 22-foot aluminum River Wild boat (and trailer) from Liquid Technologies in Grants Pass, is the first Marine Board-purchased boat to be equipped
with a 6.0 L turbo diesel engine that produces low carbon emissions and is more fuel efficient than an equivalent gasoline engine.
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:200%"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif""> Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office previously operated a 1988 Duckworth, 1984 Whitewater and 2001 Zodiac and contributed $37,069 through their trade
in. The Marine Board contributed $51,631 in boater dollars for a total cost of $88,700.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.5in;line-height:200%"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">“The extended engine life and improved fuel efficiency should save approximately $42,000 over the 20-year life of the boat,” says Mervin Hee,
Waterways Coordinator for the Marine Board. “Because it’s built with the most modern technology, this boat will be much more cost-effective to operate with very little maintenance and huge fuel savings. This boat will serve the boaters of Clackamas County
for decades.” <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:200%"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">
<span style="color:black">The Marine Board is funded by registration fees and marine fuel taxes paid by boaters.
<strong>No general fund tax dollars</strong> are used to support the agency or its programs. Boater-paid fees go back to boaters in the form of boating safety services (on-the-water enforcement, training and equipment), education/outreach materials and boating
access facilities.</span><o:p></o:p></span></p>
