The Oregon State Marine Board held its quarterly meeting on October 22 in Astoria, and approved boating facility grants and denied a petition for personal watercraft (PWC) restrictions on the Salmon River, in Lincoln County.
</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:200%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif""><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:200%"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif""> The Board approved the disbursement of $63,080 in state boater funds and $204,241 in federal Clean Vessel Act (CVA) funds to replace seven pumpout
and dump stations. The new equipment will help capture thousands of gallons of boater-generated sewage from portable toilets and holding tanks. Together with in-kind contributions, total project expenditures equaled $300,841. The Port of Garibaldi, Boardman
Park & Recreation District, Metro (Chinook Landing), City of Depoe Bay, Port of Astoria (West Basin), Port of Gold Beach and State Parks (Cove Palisades) were awarded grants.
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.5in;line-height:200%"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">In other business, the Marine Board voted 4:1, to not initiate rulemaking to amend OAR 250-021-0040, in response to a petition the agency received
to prohibit the operation of personal watercraft (PWC’s) in Lincoln County. <o:p>
</o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.5in;line-height:200%"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">The Board also voted unanimously to adopt a new Marine Board logo. The logo was developed by an external advisory committee comprised of staff,
community members and state boaters and aided by the design firm of bell + funk, from Eugene. Agency signage, publications, forms, and other documentation will incorporate the new logo as existing supplies are exhausted.
