<p class="MsoNormal">On June 30, 2021, the Governor lifted restrictions on daycares and schools. However, the state of emergency was extended through December 31, 2021. Also, on June 30, 2021, all COVID-19-related LOA’s and policies were lifted. At our last
meeting, we talked about what this means for us. Since then, there have been some updates:<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b><u>OFLA Sick Child – Child Care leave<o:p></o:p></u></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">We are back to our regular processing of FMLA/OFLA and, as such, will be asking for documentation for OFLA sick child – child care leave as allowed by OFLA.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Attached you will find the OFLA Sick Child - Child Care leave certification form. We are asking employees complete this form upon their first use of OFLA sick child – child care leave after June 30, 2021. The form only needs to be completed
once for the time period of July 1, 2021 – September 15, 2021. If OFLA sick child – child care leave is needed after September 15, 2021, we are asking the employee complete a new form. The new form will be good through December 31, 2021.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b><u>Sick Leave<o:p></o:p></u></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b><u><o:p><span style="text-decoration:none"> </span></o:p></u></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Sick Leave may be used for child care leave when the school/daycare is
<i>closed by the order of a public official </i>during a public health emergency. (I’ve gotten clarification on this since our last meeting.) This is different than OFLA sick child where school/care just needs to be unavailable during a public health emergency.
At this time, there are no statewide closures of schools or daycares. We last saw this happen locally during the September 2020 fires when places were being evacuated. Hopefully, we will not run into any schools/daycares being closed by a public official
again. But, if it happens sick leave may be used.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">To help differentiate OFLA sick child – child care leave and sick leave usage, we’d created two short documents explaining each.<o:p></o:p></p>
