[OSSSA218] Reminder Related to Election Officials, Election Workers, & FICA Withholdings

Good morning Section 218 Employers:

On May 19, 2015, many counties, cities and special districts in Oregon will conduct elections.

As a reminder, the State of Oregon holds a Section 218 exclusion for election officials and election workers. For 2015, total gross compensation paid to an election worker/official under $1600.00 is excluded from FICA withholding. In the case of an election worker/official whose earnings exceed $1600.00 in the calendar year 2015, FICA is paid from the first dollar earned.
