I wanted to update you on an issue that we are working on to restore functionality in OSTX. Last December we found that there was a problem with a school having access to new student data from a subsequent school while using the MyStudents tab. This meant that a previous school could see data for a student no matter where they had moved to. In our effort to stop providing personally identifiable information to the previous school we have unfortunately limited access to marks data using the View Details in the Requests screen.
In the process to fix that issue we have determined that a design change is necessary to the way we handle data access on the Requests screen. This will require us to do some significant work to the OSTX application to change the way we handle authorization. We have started this work but it will take some time to complete.
While preparing to make the changes to the OSTX authorization process we are working on a temporary fix to allow access to the Marks data through the Requests tab. If that work can be completed this week we should have the functionality working again on the Requests screen next week.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we strive to create an application that provides schools immediate access to student data while ensuring data remains secure and available to those that have authorization to the data.
Thank you.
Joel
