</o:shapelayout></xml><![endif]--></head><body lang=EN-US link=blue vlink=purple><div class=WordSection1><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>We are defining the requirements for our work on the release of the long awaited transcript option in OSTX. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>The transcript feature will provide the option to send a transcript to an Oregon university and eventually to colleges and universities around the nation. It will analyze a student to ensure whether there are errors in the data and, if there are, OSTX will not send the transcript. If there are no errors but the data is not up-to-date you will have a text field to enter information for the university. This will allow you to send the transcript with a message that the data is not complete and another transcript will be sent when the data has been updated. This would work when you need to update any data but especially grades, cumulative GPA, or cumulative credits earned. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>One question that we are wrestling with and would like you input around is the area of dual enrollment. If a student is enrolled in 2 schools at the same time do we need to worry about combining the data from the 2 schools? If for example, a student attends high school A and is also taking classes at high school B. Will the source for the data be school A or would we need to somehow know the student is enrolled at school B and get data from school B to complete the transcript? My thought is that School A is the school of record and would update the course results from school B in school A’s student system. This would ensure the student would complete their graduation requirements in school A. Otherwise the student would not have enough credits to graduate from school A.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>A similar scenario would result with students attending a middle school and taking classes at the high school. Or a student attending a community college to take college-level classes. How does the school of record get the course results for the student so that the student can complete their graduation requirements. At the middle school there are two possibilities I have heard are taking place. The first is that the student’s course is maintained at the middle school and a flag is set to say that the course should receive high school credit when the student’s graduation credits are calculated. The other is that the student has a record at the high school for all of the courses they have completed. When the student moves to the high school their graduation plan is credited with the courses they completed while in middle school. I believe the scenario being used is based on the student system a district uses. It would be good to know which process your district follows and the student system vendor your district is using. In addition, it would be good to know if the courses are tracked at the middle school as well.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>The other question that comes up in the scenario is, what happens when a student leaves the district prior to moving to the high school. Do the credits show up as high school credits when the student moves on?
