April is National Poetry Month. And this year, we're doing something a little different to celebrate it.

We partnered with #1 New York Times bestselling author Kwame Alexander and One Word at a Time to create the Be Mighty for Your Library Challenge<https://www.saveschoollibrarians.org/be-mighty?e=a9f68e584d574e71d27da9d7a430c62a&utm_source=votelibraries&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=mighty_1&n=1> - a nationwide campaign designed to get kids through your doors, signed up for library cards, and writing poems about why their library matters to them.

Here's the short version of how it works:

Kids complete three of five simple library actions - things like signing up for a library card, checking out a book, or bringing a friend to the library. Then they write a short poem. You display the poems on a Library Poetry Wall. At the end of the month, Kwame Alexander creates a Community Poem for Libraries using words and lines drawn from submissions across the country.

Three participating library communities will be selected to receive a One Word at a Time Author Study Season Pass - delivered to a partner school of your choosing.

No purchase necessary. No complicated rules. Just your library, your community, and a month of poetry.

We're looking for our founding libraries.

We're launching this as a pilot program<https://www.saveschoollibrarians.org/be-mighty?e=a9f68e584d574e71d27da9d7a430c62a&utm_source=votelibraries&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=mighty_1&n=2>, and we're inviting a select group of libraries to be part of it first. If your library is among the first to register, you'll be part of shaping what this becomes - and in the running to win a prize package for a school in your community.

The challenge runs April 10 through April 25. Registration closes April 9th.
