Join OASL on Saturday, October 18th at the Embassy Suites Hotel, Portland Airport to hear her speak on
<b>“Diversity, Race and Culture in Schools.”</b><i> </i>In fact, Ms. Johnson will be in Oregon for over a week, visiting schools and library branches for smaller sessions, but speaking at a public event on the 18th. </span><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:13.5pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:black">Hailed as a leading voice in both young-adult and children’s literature, Angela’s books celebrate African-American families, history and relationships. As one book reviewer eloquently
stated, “Angela’s stories touch readers in ways that endure. Rich with memorable characters, lyricism and meaning, Johnson transports us to new places and keeps us there by exploring the threads that connect us.”

<b>Award</b>, and is a recipient of an <b>Ezra Jack Keats New Writer</b> <b>Award.</b> Clearly, Ms. Johnson has a unique talent for reaching readers of all ages, and in recognition of her talent, Angela was named a
<b>2003 MacArthur Fellow</b>. Born in Tuskegee, Alabama in 1961, she grew up </span>
