statement on social media and children and young adults at the library</a>. There are so many resources and so many messages we can provide to youth, caregivers, care providers, and our colleagues about social media and online behavior that it can be overwhelming.
 While IFLA’s messages are not comprehensive they are a good place to start, written in plain language, and they aren’t overwhelming.

<p class="MsoNormal">IFLA Section Libraries for Children and Young Adults has published a statement on safe usage of social media for children and young adults. The document offers tips on protecting safety and privacy online as well as good online behavior.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p>The statement has a message for the children: how to enjoy online resources safely and responsibly, and how to deal with possible unpleasant situations. The statement also provides tips for the parents and library professionals on how to support children
 and young people utilize the possibilities of learning, entertainment and communication online safely.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The statement is meant to be read at the library, together with the young patrons and their parents.  The document has been prepared in IFLA Section Libraries for Children and Young Adults working group.<br>
