Hello OYAN!

October is Cyber Security Awareness month and my TAB is interested in a cyber-security program. They do NOT want something about cyber bullying (they feel they get that at school). What they said is they don’t have confidence in knowing
how to be safe online from impersonal attacks. How to know if they’ve been hacked. How to stay safe online. What to do if you get to a site that tracks you, and how to get out of a bad situation.

This is one of those things that, although I feel like I could put something together for my 1-1.5 hour program, I think it would be better to have an outside speaker. (They get sick of hearing things from me all the time.) I’m in Springfield,
OR. Any ideas on who might make a good speaker on such a topic?

It would also be cool if they could do some hands-on thing on the computer to demonstrate the importance of this topic. (Like maybe show how easy it can be to be hacked.) Any suggestions on such an activity, in case I do end up teaching
this myself?

Thanks for suggestions! I’m looking to have my fall calendar in place in the next 2 weeks, although this could be pushed back to winter as an activity.
