<span style="font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif">When I was at Fern Ridge Public Library, we had a lot of teens who found themselves asking a lot of questions about transitioning into adulthood, so I did an Adulting 101 program that we had
about once a quarter and we talked about topics that they were nervous about for preparing for the next step, and college or alternatives was one of those topics!

I basically broke it down into smaller chunks: types of schooling after high school, the definitions of degrees (and generally why people might pursue different degrees), trade schools, community colleges & trade schools versus a four-year college, scholarships
and loans, and a Q&A to wrap things up.

Because Veneta is outside of Eugene, we looked at state schools and some community colleges that are in the area (LCC for sure, but I think I covered Linn-Benton and Chemeketa too) and I highlighted a few programs that I thought would be of interest to the
teens that regularly attended my programs.

Hey all! I’m thinking about fall programs and all the teens who’ve told me they can’t afford college and/or feel pressured to know exactly what they want to do before they enter college so they don’t spend
extra money on tuition exploring various interests (which makes me sad.) I wondered if any of you out there have offered programming along the lines of alternatives to college, alternative ways to think about college, and/or exploring fields that don’t require
a college degree? Let me know if you have any recommendations. Thanks!
