lawsuits which the federal government lost but then appealed.]</span><span style="font-size:11.0pt;color:#215E99">
</span><span style="font-size:11.0pt">I have good news to share: the federal government has dropped their appeal in the IMLS portion of the
<a href="https://law.justia.com/cases/federal/appellate-courts/ca1/25-1477/25-1477-2025-09-11.html">
Rhode Island vs. Trump case</a>. It is my understanding that leaves the permanent injunction against the March 2025 executive order in place for IMLS, the federal agency that gives the State Library funding, no matter what happens with the other two agencies
listed in the lawsuit. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">The other news to share, <i>which was 100% expected:
<o:p></o:p></i></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">The federal executive branch issued their proposed budget for IMLS on Friday. Yet again, the Trump Administration has requested that Congress eliminate all federal funding for library services.
<a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/oia_fy2027.pdf">See PDF page 56 of this document</a> for the specifics. This marks the 6<sup>th</sup> year of such funding proposals from the Trump administration.
<b>Every single time Congress has kept adding funds for America’s libraries.</b> <o:p>
