12.0pt'>Every year the Oregon Intellectual Freedom Clearinghouse (OIFC)
publishes a report on challenges to all types of library materials in <st1:State
w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Oregon</st1:place></st1:State>. This
report provides a landscape of censorship activity in <st1:State w:st="on">Oregon</st1:State>,
and is submitted to <st1:State w:st="on">ALA</st1:State>'s Office of
Intellectual Freedom to be included in their report on censorship activity in
the <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">United States</st1:place></st1:country-region>.
The Annual Report is also used by librarians, professors, and teachers to
help them develop activities for Banned Books Week.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

12.0pt'> <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:
12.0pt'>The Annual Report is based on challenge reports OIFC receives from all
types of <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Oregon</st1:place></st1:State>
libraries (school, academic, and public). All libraries are encouraged to
report challenges to materials on a voluntary basis. OIFC does not
publish names of people, organizations,
libraries, schools, colleges/universities, </span></font><font
size=2 color=blue face=Arial><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial;
color:blue'> </span></font><font color=black><span style='color:black'>or</span></font><font
size=2 color=blue face=Arial><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial;
color:blue'> </span></font>towns identified in challenge reports. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:
12.0pt'> <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:
12.0pt'>I will be compiling the 2009 OIFC Annual

all challenge reports by <b><font color=red><span style='color:red;
font-weight:bold'>August 1, 2009</span></font></b>. <font
size=2 face=Arial><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'> </span></font>Submit
a separate challenge report for each formal challenge to library materials that
occurred at your library between July 1, 2008 and June 30, 2009.<o:p></o:p></p>

challenge as well as providing information that will help you plan Banned Books
Week activities. The Annual Report will tell you what books were
challenged in <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Oregon</st1:place></st1:State>
libraries the previous year. The more libraries reporting challenges to
