<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Why participate in the 2014 Digital Inclusion Survey?<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">1. They've created interactive mapping tools that show both the library's Digital Inclusion impact on its community as well as key community needs in areas of employment, education, health -- and also a range
of demographics. City and county managers thought this was a great tool when the project showed it to them at the ICMA conference in October in Charlotte, NC. They are very focused on "quality of life" community indicators, and this tool clearly resonated

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">2. They've made it easy to leverage data for advocacy at all levels. Issue briefs, state summaries, reports and infographics provide bite-size pieces, context and visual appeal on the topics ranging from digital
inclusion writ large to e-government and employment. All these are at <a href="http://digitalinclusion.umd.edu/content/analysis">http://digitalinclusion.umd.edu/content/analysis</a>. These can be very helpful as legislative sessions get underway.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">3. ALA puts the data to work for you and your colleagues. ALA takes these state summaries to senators; uses the data to inform and bolster our policy recommendations, testimony and public comments; and publicizes
what has been learned from all of you in media ranging from <i>Fast Company</i> to <i>Governing</i> magazine.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">4. The online survey tool is designed for ease of use, and allows you to import last year’s data if you’ve participated before.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
