[ODF_Private_Forests] Message from Doug Decker on ODF Budget

WEEKS Kevin kevin.weeks at state.or.us

Greetings -

As you may know, the Department of Forestry's budget presentation before the Ways and Means Natural Resources Subcommittee is scheduled for the week of April 25.

This will be an opportunity for the Department and our stakeholders to highlight the value of public investment in keeping Oregon's forests healthy and working. The involvement of a broad range of stakeholders is integral to the legislature's budget development process.

The Legislative Fiscal Office, as part of its efforts to package documents electronically for easy access by the subcommittee, has asked agencies to gather stakeholder input, as possible, for submission in advance.

If you would like to submit letters or other material in this way, please send your items by email to Dan Postrel, our Agency Affairs Director, at dpostrel at odf.state.or.us<mailto:dpostrel at odf.state.or.us> by Friday, April 15.

We have assembled a background handout with key messages and information that may provide food for thought as you formulate your input. You can find this by visiting our Web page at www.oregon.gov/ODF/budgetdevelopment.shtml<http://www.oregon.gov/ODF/budgetdevelopment.shtml>.

As currently scheduled, the Department will be making its budget presentation to the Natural Resources Subcommittee from 1 to 2:30 Monday through Wednesday, April 25 through 27, in Room H-170 at the Capitol. The following session, at 1 on Thursday, April 28, is the time reserved for public comment.

Thanks for your interest and participation in this important process.

If you have questions, please don't hesitate to call Dan Postrel, at (503) 945-7420.

Best,

Doug Decker
State Forester
